I just bought a 1990 F-150 4x4, and have tried to check the VIN (mainly to find my gear ratio), but the only thing I can find is basic info, year, price, etc... I tried the link of FTE, but still no luck. I know it has a 302, auto, and failing blue paint

 

Look at the sticker on the drivers side door jam. The axle code will be there, after that it is easy to decode what you have.
