I've seen original Tung-Sol flashers listed for hundreds of dollars on E-bay for restoration freaks. I had a tung sol in my 67 that was bad and the only replacement that was available was a standard 552 without the mounting nub. I just cut the back of the original flasher off and epoxied it to the replacement one which allowed me to mount it in the original correct location. This ensured that you would hear the "click" when the turn signals flashed.
Is there any updated part to replace the TUNG-SOL 224 Turn Signal Flasher?
All I'm finding are the Emergency Flashers, and they don't seem to have the nub that lets them hang onto the back of the Instrument Cluster.
SFE-224 is the T/S flasher; SFE-552-B is the emergency flasher that can also be used as the T/S flasher: trailer tow/Camper Special; dealer installed for deaf people as it has a louder CLICK.
T/S flasher plugs into the back of the instrument cluster. Emergency flasher nestles into a bracket that attaches to the dash w/a screw behind the cluster (see pic for locations of these two puppies).
One of the things that I don't understand about the Turn Signal Flasher vs the Emergency Flasher is why they both carry the same basic part number. If they have different Motorcraft designations, how did Ford tell them apart?

If they have different Motorcraft designations, how did Ford tell them apart? When the prefix and suffix are added to the basic part number (13350), you get this:
I have an 81 f100 and I am converting to LEDs. Having a hard time finding tung sol 224 flasher equivalent? Can anyone help?

Don't know how he made it in the 67-72 truck area with his 81 but here goes.
If the stock flasher does not work with the LED's then I am thinking this one will not work either.
You need an electronic as it will work and not dependent on the load.
or
You will need to add resistors to the turn signal system to fake the load to get the flasher to work.
I have not gotten this far yet on my project so cant tell you how it works but I am going to try the electronic flasher first.
