HARD STARTING 7.3

HARD STARTING 7.3
Hello fellow FTE'rs. I hope all are doping great. I need some constructive input please.
Recently my 01 7.3 has been hard to start after 3 days or more of sitting. If I start it daily there is no problem it starts immediately. When running it is smooth idling. When it has sat and I crank it there is a lot of smoke. Acts like it is trying to build oil pressure.
Thoughts?

I'd say that it's possible that your injector O rings are letting the oil leak over time, check the oil level in your HPOP reservoir after sitting and before starting. Others may have other ideas to check.

It wouldn't be injector O-rings leaking down that caused hard starting, but if there is a leak down situation in the HPOP, that would. Mark is correct in his assertion that you may want to check the HPOP reservoir after it has sat for a few days. The oil level should be no lower than about 3/4-1 inch below the inspection port.
