How to fix ext cab doors
I bought a 2000 Ford F-150 extended cab a few days ago with the 4.2l v6. The rear doors want open. I know it is the cabes inside the doors are some how broken. The exact same thing happened to my Dad's Ford Ranger a while back. I know there are some do it yourself fixes. But you have to buy there products that do it.
What is the best fix diy it yourself or take it to someone and let them fix it.
I also had the common code for the 4.2 l. The P071. My truck has the high idle. Haven't had a chance to check vacuum lines or clean the MAF sensor.
Any comments would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks,
brc

Maybe? certainly a vacuum leak. Have you check the Elbow on the rear or fire wall where the PCV is plumbed into. That's the biggest culprit but check every where on the vacuum lines. there is also a plastic vacuum canister behind the battery in the fender that is not always checked . You might have t make a smoke machine. There is several DIY smoke machines on You tube as well.

Thanks for the info and advice. I am already up early this morning looking at the forum and youtube videos on how to locate and replace the pcv valve.
With my truck having a high idle does that lead it to a more specific problem?
I have seen some replace things that cause the idle to fluctuate back and forth and they were told it was something specific like a pcv valve. Just wondering.
Thanks,
