Why? If I'm going to haul something heavy enough to need dual rear wheels and put up with the width anyway, I don't want to be worrying about trailer-to-cab clearance. Having the long bed has been a great relief since we moved up to our F350.

My sentiment exactly. And I find the CCLB, DRW much more maneuverable than a long nosed KW or Pete pulling Rocky Mountain doubles!!!!!

An F250 SRW has a king pin rating well under 2000#. Most 5er toy haulers pin weights are well over 2000#. With the advent of extended pin boxes and sliding hitches clearance is pretty much a non issue anymore.

An F350/450 CCLB DRW will cost about $1500 a year to register in California, F250 is about $850. And a short bed will fit on my, and most garages.
