That picture is of a 6.7.
The F150 does not have the square drive molded in.

Fumoto says they don't have one for this engine. That's on one site. Another says yes and shows conventionally threaded valves.

For Ford 2017 F-150 2.7L EcoBoost

My bet is they don't make a valve for these engines.

Here's a F150 2.7EB with a square drive drain plug that is exactly like the 6.7PSD drain plug. Ford has used two types of poly oil plugs but the general design is the same.

Too bad owners chowder them up thinking they are problem.....Note: someone mentioned plastic oil pans. They have been on SD's for years. They are tough.
Nope. They were used originally on the 2011 and some early build 2012 model year 6.7L Super Duties. From mid to late 2012 onward, Ford changed up to a stamped steel oil pan with conventional 16mm hex head drain plug like that on my 2016 F-250 6.7L.

I’m with you, if they are showing a threaded valve, they have it wrong! That’s not to say they will never make one to fit.

Haha, I’m so confused on what Ford actually used. I guess you have to check out your own own pan!

Being a Ford dealer technician since 2000 like myself, who's seen his share of the undersides of many Ford products also helps.

The 2017 2.7L F150 does. Exactly like Troy's pic.

My 2017 3.5 does not have the molded in square drive.
I wonder if the 2.7 and 3.5 are interchangeable?

see here https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...A&&FORM=VRDGAR

The guy who made that video is crazy.
I grab mine with some smooth jaw channel locks and it comes right off.

Huh. I've never seen that design before. Also, I meant 2016 2.7L, not 2017. Forgot what year my truck was.

Can anyone tell me what type of oil drain plug for a 2017 F-150 5.0L?

I tried contacting EZ Drain. They don't make one either. I really liked the one I had on my old truck. It came with a hose so no spill at all.
And so it goes.........

Unfortunately there is no longer any threads to screw a valve into.

Does anyone have a part number? I looked online and couldn't find the right match. Does anyone know why Ford decided to use a plastic plug? (I see it as something that will have to be continually replaced)
Thanks
I wouldn't be surprised if Ford continued using the drain plugs as it currently is. Personally I thought it was a poor design for the average user. It could have been intended as a deterrent to get more people to have their oil changed at the dealer. You may be surprised as to the motive of some manufacturer's.

I swapped the drain plug in my 2017 3.5 Eco over to the square drive style like the 2.7 uses. It's much easier to remove with a 3/8" drive ratchet and a short extension. With the old drain plug I'd have to use channel locks to loosen it because I couldn't get it with my fingers.
