Hi gang. I usually hang out in the 99 to 03 diesel 7.3 forum but I'm helping my brother-in-law with his 2017 F250 trying to put an aftermarket brake controller in it. We have it hooked up but it's not lighting up. Does something have to be programmed in the truck in order for the brake controller to be activated and can I do that with forscan. Thanks in advance for any help, Paul
Why not just install the Ford OEM unit? It fully intergrates with the truck. I bought one for $170. It takes 10 minutes to install as the wiring is already in place and then enable via FORScan.

Thanks for the reply h20camper. That's what I asked him after he called and and said help me put in my new controller. This one cost less and all his other trucks have had after market. Oh well.
The "enable via FORScan" was what I was looking for. Think we figured out today that was our problem. Dealer wanted $120 to activate. WHAT
Nearly 50K for a truck to tow stuff then you you have to pay to make it work. Stupid dealers.
He just got home and is downloading Forsacn. We'll see how it goes.
If I recall correctly, I only needed to enable the Trailer Brake Controller in the IPC module to get things working.
.
You are correct sir. Just wanted to follow up and let you know we did get the Trailer Brake Control "Enabled" and he finally went and got the OEM controller. All is well now.
Did you have to get the licensed version of Forscan to be able to get into the modules and make changes?
