I got my tranny dropped and noticed that my original pan is pretty much obsolete (raised bolt holes) with OEM gaskets. I do not want to use an aftermarket cork gasket.
So I'm in the market for a new pan.
Can I use the "shallow" filter with a deep pan? I bought a clip for the filter so it will be secure that way and I don't see a problem as long as I fill ATF to the proper level.
Am i correct in assuming this or is a new filter necessary if I want to use the deep pan?
Get a new filter. The clip should keep the wrong filter in place, but it will be picking up fluid too high in the pan. If you turn, accelerate, brake, or drive either up or down a grade you run a high risk of sucking air instead of ATF and the trans goes to neutral. If you always drive at a steady speed on level ground without stopping or turning it might work.

Thanks for the reply mark. I was in a bit of a rush, but Amazon had same day shipping for the filter for the deep pan (#FT114). Ordered this morning and getting it this afternoon.
Do you know how much more ATF the deep pan takes over the shallow pan?
