My 1996 f350 7.3 has developed a shudder. It only happens at 40-45 mph and only when cruising at that speed if you are accelerating you can barely feel it and it goes away and never comes back, even up to 75 mph. Could this possibly be from a bad u joint. The truck did have some pretty bad axle wrap which can tear up u joints. So I’m wondering if that is my problem.
Check transmission yoke for slop. If a slip joint, it could be worn and causing issues.
My '95 F150 has same deal right now, 35 mph it pulses a real bad vibration through the whole truck. I grabbed the slip yoke and it actually "Clunks" on the shaft. You can feel the vibration randomly all the way up to highway speed. Just slow speed is worse.
I picking up a new yoke tonight and installing it.
