BPofMD...to my knowledge your Garmin RV760 is doing all the routing based on RV data resident on that unit. It is also displaying the low clearance as an icon and likely setting off an alarm. IN ADDITION, the Route1 POI are activating the Garmin RV760 alarm and displaying an associated icon at the POI location.

So, if Route1 has a low clearance POI that the Garmin RV760 does not have built-in, it will alarm and show the associated icon, but will not route around it. This is what I think you observed when you say "Originally Posted by BPofMD

How many low clearances would you estimate you see displayed via Route1 that you don't see native to the GPS? Can you control how close they need to be to your location before an alarm?

I just ordered a RV GPS and am trying to determine if adding Route1 would be desirable? Your thoughts?

that being the case....

from GPS dashboard ( or menu )... press detour ahead.. GPS should re-route..

I use the Garmin dezl 770 "Trucker"... 1 1/2 years now. with RV poi factory add-ins.

Is it a valid statement that your GPS does not route according to the POI Factory data but it does display and warn for them?

Presumably your doing a re-route is a (rather clever and painless) work-around if you determine the warning is for something that concerns you. True?

Can you select how low a Factory POI obstruction needs to be to display/alarm?

no, poi factory does not re-route.. but using the gps detour.. will plot a way around...

the Trucker 770 has the size built into it.. and you set your rig size. all 3..
length, width, height.

I think the confusion about this is surrounding a couple of things.

If your GPS has size data built-in(i.e. RV or Trucker enabled GPS),

- it will never calculate a route with low clearance restrictions for the data built-in to the GPS. However, if you have the low clearance POI's loaded, AND your GPS didn't have a particular low clearance location, your GPS would have calculated that route(wrongly) but you should get the warning for the POI, and should be able to detour around it.

If your GPS does NOT have size data (i.e. standard auto GPS)

- the low clearance POI's will only be proximity warnings. GPS software will NOT route around those. As far as I know, the proximity warnings, are a "circle area", in that you must be within x distance for the POI for the alarm to go off. It doesn't necessarily mean that it will only alarm if it is on the road you are on specifically, but could be the access road next to the highway you are on.

While visiting the Ford Sync website I came across a statement that in 2015 Ford began allowing 3rd party info to be loaded into their nav systems. Does anyone have experience with that?

I just found that article. It was a pre-annoucement for the updated Sync 3, which first became available in Superduty in 2017. The archaic MyFordTouch in the 2016's and older are a no-go. And it appears to be 3rd party apps, I dont know if they allow something like route-1 data to be imported or not.
