yesterday- rain/sleeting conditions the message center kept alerting trailer connected then a bit later trailer disconnected. it went thru sort of a check list with turn signals not working too..... truck has never had a trailer connected to it yet.
I presume water intrusion- but from where? how could this be so soon?
The most likely answer is water inside the 7 way receptacle at the rear of the truck. Check to make sure the cover is closed completely. Also, get some dielectric grease & liberally coat the terminals inside the receptacle to prevent corrosion. In the past, I have had to drill a drain hole in the bottom of a receptacle or two to allow rainwater to drain away.
Had this happen a couple of months ago in rainy conditions. Messages kept popping up about the trailer being connected, then disconnected and then a trailer light being out.
Randomly every few seconds.
I was going to do do Tom's suggestion of popping the trailer plug apart and filling with dielectric grease. But the problem went away and hasn't returned no matter what the weather. Heading south in March, pulling an enclosed trailer and 4 motorcycles. I think I may address the issue before I leave.
