Question For 56 Owners

I am putting an emergency brake cable conversion on my 1949 that uses the 1953 thru 1956 cable set up. I am looking for pictures that show where the other end of the cable from the lever under the dash mounts to the bottom of the cab where the cable ends and connects to the rear cables. Thanks

I don't have a picture with the cab off and the cable installed on my '53, but I can show you where it goes.

The cable terminates in a crossmember below the cab. Then the threaded cable end sticks through a "U" that equalizes the pull between the two rear brakes.

I hope this helps.

The cable sticks through a hole at "A" and connects to the "U" at "B".

The cable from the hand brake lever went through an opening in front of the transmission cover and secured under the cover then to the cross member Effie posted as A

I use LOKAR cables, much better setup than OEM.

Thanks Effie, This is the picture I have been looking for. After I bought the conversion cable kit I wished I had just put new stock cables back on. I have all the stock connections for doing it but liked this set up better. The 49 does not have this cross member like the 53-56 have. I have an aftermarket steering column so I made a plate to fill the hole up. I know about the front cable running through the hole next to it and how the front stock cable ran so I drilled a new hole straight under the brake handle and ran it over the tranny and I will make something to hold it centered in the frame to hook it to the rear cable. Thank You all for responding about this. Tracy
