I cut the grommet and figured out the front cable, no problems.

Now the intermediate cable is giving me problems. I bought the cable from Napa and gave them the 83-5/8" measurement from the old cable. The old cable broke, but it's pretty close when I match it to the new one. Anyway, I'm under the truck and I need what seems to be a 4" longer cable to get the front cable to meet the intermediate cable.

1) Does anyone know the correct length needed for a 2003 F250 Super Duty, 4x4, Supercab, and 8 foot bed?

2) Why is it that the new cable is very close to the old one, but I need 4" to connect them? Maybe I'm missing something? I have the front cable installed and extended all the way through the end. I installed the rear to the drum cables and I'm trying to pull it to the front cable? That's where I'm getting the 4" from.

Sorry for all the newbie questions, just never did this before and it should be much simpler.

 

I went through this while helping my neighbor swap rears in his F150. We had to cross parts to get it all hooked up. 4" is a lot of slack, more than I believe you could get out of the brake adjusters, but you may be able to reroute the cables a bit to gain that on one side.
