When I first joined the Air Force in 1995, I was stationed at Offutt AFB as an Outside Plant Voice Tech. My first supervisor and his buddy told me to go into the shop to get some supplies. Included in the list of supplies was a "roll of flight line". Well, me being the young and eager person I was, I was frustrated when the supply NCO told me that they were playing a joke and that there is no such thing as flight line. He said, think about it... The planes land and take off on a flight line. He said, now if you want some underground or indoor cabling, I got that.
I laughed a bit, came out with the rest of the supplies and saw them laughing. I played the same joke on young Airmen under my charge in the future. Some laughed, some got upset, but I laughed each time if only to bring back the memory.
whoever told you ball joints needed balancing also probably believes in the need to top off your blinker fluid and grease your muffler bearings...

I was a USAF crew chief on F4's in the 80's. When were getting ready to do an engine run we would send the newbs to get the hand held thrust gauge.
Well, since some of these are comm related, I have one. Use to have a guy that answered the telephone trouble desk line. One day a lady calls in with low volume. He asks her a few questions and then says, Ma'am, what I need you to do is clear everything off your desk. When she says ok he tells her now please step back because I'm going to blow out the line with compressed air and it might get dusty.
