I would go with a spray in liner instead of the plastic. Plastic tends to rub the paint of in places under it and traps water. Granted the aluminum bed is not a problem with rust as was the steel bed.
I ordered my truck with from the factory with the spray in liner and have had no problems with it.
You can cut the bedliner to accept the "rails" for a fithweel hitch and drop the hitch on top of the rails. It may not look as pretty as a spray in liner but it will be harder to dent the bed than with a spray in liner and will save some money by not having to spray in a new liner. Rust is not as big a problem as it was in the '70's. People in the rust belt may disagree.

There are no rails with the Reese/Ford 5th wheel prep kit. There are 5 holes in the bed for the 5th wheel pucks/goose neck ball to fit into.
