I'm not sure, to be honest. I had heard about it and thought I would try it out. It's a setting in Sync, so it's as easy to change as the bass or treble on your radio.
I have had it like this for 2-3 weeks and have found no practical purpose for it. I'll probably change it back to normal pretty soon.
I 'think' it's intended for helping when you are backing a trailer in a difficult situation. It keeps the camera active so you can more easily see what is going on.

Good question, I just don't have a good answer.
That would be really useful with my utility trailer, i can't see it behind the truck until its sideways.

Then you must be the guy it's made for!
For smaller utility trailers that you can't really see behind you, I can see where it would be useful. If you had to go forward to straighten out the trailer a bit, you'd be able to use the camera in order to get it just how you want it...before shifting back into reverse.
To access it:
On your radio, go to:
1. Settings
2. Vehicle
3. Rear Camera Delay
I remember seeing that option but figured delay was a bad thing. Ill have to check it out later.
My trailer is narrow, but about 16' long, just perfect to hide behind the tailgate. Even with tow mirrors its pain. the 36' over all camper is a thousand times easier to back up, i can see it!
I believe it's in the vehicle settings menu in the instrument panel, but not sure if that's correct. I'm pretty sure the delay keeps the camera enabled to 5 MPH, not 15.
It's an awesome feature though, I have it enabled on my Escape and Transit currently.
Found it! It's either on or off; you can't set the time on it. Seems to be about 10-12 seconds on my truck (counted one Mississippi, two Mississippi...).
Very handy when you just want to check truck position.
I was about to make a new thread on this when I found this thread. Yesterday my camera stayed on for a few seconds after I backed out of an angled parking spot and started to drive away. It has only done this once and I don't think I have changed a setting for it. I thought it was cool and see where it could be useful. I'll have to see if I can find the setting on my 2019 XLT.
