Rear LED replacement

Went to install the Zevo 3157R today. I don't know if I'd read it someplace or where I got the idea in my head, but I ordered red. A red LED inside of a red lens does not appear to be anywhere near bright enough.
Did I screw up? I think these better go back to Amazon. Their chart says it fits, which is does. No mention is made of correct color.
The fitment site on Superbright shows a 3157K, which I believe to be white. The current bulbs are clear, so it would make sense that the white is the way to go inside of a red lens. I'd appreciate a little guidance before I return one and order another.
However, further reading on Super Bright's website says, "LED emitting color should match lens color". Their bulb is a 360 degree beam angle. These Zevos are not. The pic shows them from each end. The LED chips face back toward the reflector of the lens. The rest is finned.

I use the red also, Tried the white/clear first and they looked orangish. Research I found said to match the color of the lens.

I found that also. But the Zevo only seem to have a couple of LED chips instead of a 360 range with several chips like Super Bright and others. I'm hesitant to put them in because they seem dimmer than the stock bulbs. In fact, the return process has begun. They're repacked and awaiting pickup from my postal carrier now.
I've emailed Super Bright to get their take on this.

Mine are about the same brightness as the OEM during the day but super bright at night.

I don't know, maybe it was just my eye but it sure appeared dimmer in the daylight than the halogens. The Zevos have been picked up and are on the way back to Amazon.
I'll see what Super Bright has to say on Monday. I emailed them with the experience I had and the photo I posted here.

I ordered these and they're as bright or brighter than stock. $14.95/each X 4.

https://www.superbrightleds.com/sear...-r27-t-ck+red/

In that housing, I believe you need LEDs all the way around to make full use of the reflector.

That is exactly what I have my eye on. Probably will order Monday morning.

I installed four of the Zevo 3157R LED lamps in our truck several months ago. I’m happy with their performance.

I've had them in for 9 months already. The LED design, coupled with the tail light reflector, create a very good light pattern in all directions. These bulbs are BRIGHT, and I'm still amazed going down the highway and seeing the red reflecting off the pavement from the running lights alone.. These LED designs are so much better than the ones from 10 years ago, that only shined in one direction.

You would not be disappointed with these.

Glad to see this review. I ordered the same bulbs, should be delivered tomorrow or Monday.
This is a nice simple install compared to the fronts. And now that I've got the hyper flash solved there should be no worries.

I would be sure to upgrade the reverse lights. They are cheap and make a huge difference. Check out this short video. It’s pretty convincing.

Did that several weeks ago. I went with Headlight Revolution and nothing is cheap with them. Had known then what I know now I'd have taken a less expensive route and probably would have received the lights much quicker.
But what's done is done.

I hear ya. I ran down the cheaper road with my dog lights. They sucked. Then I went HR and could not be happier.

Those teverse lights could could work as headlights they are so bright! Good luck with the tails.

The SuperBright LED tail lights arrived and were installed today. Of course it's early afternoon so it's hard to tell how they're going to look later. But I do know that in broad daylight they're a hell of a lot brighter than the single LED chip Zevo I tried.
I didn't set the rear signals with FORScan the other day when I did the front. Hyper flash came back when these bulbs were installed. A minute or 2 with FORScan and the cluster flash indicator was back to normal speed.
