Low EOT and ECT

2007 145k

I've been noticing lately my EOT and ECT seem low.
After a 30 min warm up they range 130-140. I'll drive it 20 mins they may come up to 150. Stop and idle for 20 mins back down again.
Cab heat seems fine, this is according to a ScanGauge. I will be hooking it up to auto enginuity to verify. I'm in the Northeast and our temps have been 5-50 degrees lately.
Electrical maybe?

If your oil and coolant temps are within a couple degrees of each other after the truck sits over night and those numbers match up with the ambient temp then you need a thermostat. I would suggest the international thermostat instead for the ford or parts store brands. The international one is lasting longer than the part store brands of the ford one.

Thermostat? I wouldn't figure that to be the culprit. I would think if its stuck open the ECT would get colder not warmer. And if its stuck closed then it would over heat

Just curious, what was your transmission temp (TFT), and did you hear your fan when driving?

I never checked, presently I have a code no signal to the variable fan speed control

Depending on the code, you could have essentially no fan operation or it could be operating at a higher speed than you need (ie not controlling). Do you recall the code number?

P0528 means the PCM is not reading the actual fan rpms, but it is still operational
P0480 is Fan 1 control circuit failure

It is likely that you have a wiring issue or a fan clutch issue and you may be operating at a higher fan speed than necessary in your cold weather.

I'm going to check this out. After some researching I'm sure its the clutch and not the wiring, but will look.
I also read about that circuit being part of a few others and wonder if the clutch is shorted if it would be the culprit to my stalling problem. I may just unplug it to see what it does.

Its your thermostat. Drain a few gallons of coolant or pinch off top hose, swap it out. Takes 30 minutes tops

The thermostat causes P0480 and P0528 codes?

No doubt the thermostat could be an issue also, but I would address the codes first.

Agreed. My bad, I didn't see the post where he had the code. However both times I have had numbes that low its been the thermostat. Unplug fan and drive it to confirm?

Now I have a question
I disconnected the fan clutch wiring harness. I assume its the top right connection on the shroud.
I then noticed the fan blade is still spinning. How is this possible? Is it because of the clutch on the blade?
thanks

I am going to assume that because the fan clutch is faulty its somehow seized and spinning with the water pump. That's the only thing that would make sense to me.
I went ahead and ordered the fan clutch and the thermostat since I'm gonna open it up anyways
