Hi All,
2004 Navigator Ultimate
I have the dreaded battery drain issue, with a new battery . If I drive every 3-4 days it's OK, but this is our 3rd vehicle so sometimes it sits for a week or more.
I understand the most common culprit is something with the rear wiper but I'm a bit puzzled on the resolution. Does one replace the wiper transmission, or just adjust the wiper at the attachment point? The wiper functions just fine.
To diagnose this I've read lots about needing to wait until everything is in "sleep" mode, but I can't physically access the fuse panel with the door closed so I'm not sure how this is possible? I know there's a youtube video I'll try to get to, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing here.
According to my manual the rear wiper is fuse 1 and fuse 38.
I know this is a common issue and I've read countless threads but still feel like I'm missing something.

You would adjust the position of the wiper arm on the transmission shaft. Take the arm off and run the wiper once then turn it off so it can park correctly without any resistance. Once parked install the arm and now the wiper will park without any tension on the arm.

Not too hard or you'll strip the teeth where it clamps around the motor shaft, but just wiggle it back and forth. I bet it starts working again. After that it will probably be fine for a month or two, then a month, then a couple weeks and so on and so so forth until you basically have to "pump start" it every time. The older motors are absolute crap.
