Clutch issues 55 F100 need advice
More I work the deeper I get. ..nothing new I guess. The linkage is pretty shot...someone earlier put a 4spd in the truck and modified as needed. Nothing lined up for extended use. It put unnecessary pressure on things and now it's got to be dealt with. Looks like hydraulic conversion is best answer but need advice from anyone that has done one on this style truck. Would like to keep brake assy original but that may not be best way to deal with it. Firewall mount maybe best ...just don't know . Any suggestions from experience on one??

Who ever built the truck used a top loader mustang 4spd trans and linkage not even close really...no real way to make it work and last you can't seem to make it stable...hydraulic is probably the best answer but firewall mount for brake is no apparent problem but clutch is not so much so....getting a matching set where the pedals match unless a universal is used and I hoped to find something closer matched for the truck. Hoped to find someone who has done this, maybe pedals from later model truck or something is a good way...just don't know.
Midfifties has a brake unit that is made to match up to the truck bracing but nothing as to the clutch. Anybody have any pros and cons for using a hydraulic clutch unit from a later model Ford truck??

That's the only way I can see to fix these things...linkage might could be fitted some way but looks like hydraulic is the easier way to do it. Get the brake MC off the frame and clutch linkage and rearrange the brake lines and clean up all the grease from many years that has gotten in there...just has to look better and be better.
