i looked on this forum and saw a few discussions about the different auto transmissions for big blocks. i was wondering, didn't they make a c6 with a lockup torque converter and did this fit a 390?

Never heard of one..... Just too many changes would have to be made, it isn't practical, valve body, change pump to add oil circuit to activate said lock up converter, among probably several things I am missing.... but you get the idea...

Ford never made a C6 with a lockup torque converter.
Take a look at Mark's credentials. He worked for Ford as a transmission engineer. If anyone knows their S**t, it's Mark. I have no such title, but can say I have never seen or heard of a C6 with a lockup converter......ever.
i have a 67 at home and i was doing research and i ran across a c6 with a lockup torque converter for cars they didn't make them very long but they were made about the time they stopped making c6 tranny. no i don't work for ford and i am by no means a transmission engineer but i can read and it was a few years ago when i researched it. if you can't say something useful don't say anything at all. don't be a smart ***.

Not going to get much help with that attitude.
As for the c6, never cam with a lock up feature. You can say you read it somewhere years ago, but it wasn't factory that way.
Ford stopped putting the C6 in cars sometime in the late 1970's/1980 if I remember correctly. It was still an option in full size pickups until 1996. In 1989 Ford released the E4OD. The E4OD is based off of the C6, and does have an electronic locking torque converter. At that point it would be pointless to also engineer a mechanical locking torque converter for the C6 when they could just install an E4OD.
Also, if you haven't noticed, this is the 1987-1996/97 pickup forum. Nothing here will work with a 1967 truck, or an FE motor. Hit up the dentside forum for things compatible with the 390.
