Bully dog or sct

Looking to get a tuner for my 2005 6.0 but is the bully dog or the sct a better buy? The bully dog is $400 cheaper than the sct livewire and I’m pretty sure it comes with the egt probe. I want the live wire but it’s $800 with the egt probe and the bully dog is $480 with the probe I believe. I need gauges before I get the tuner and the bully dog I believe has all the gauges and the tuner.

I would look at it from this point of vies. What device gives you the best tuning ability.
IMHO I think it's the SCT. I run tunes from Matt over at >>> Powerstroke Diesel Performance Tuning
Most I think would agree that his tunes are well behaved and tend to not chew things up.
BD had a rep of eating up the trans in our trucks in the past. Now that they are part of the
SCT family I don't know if they have fixed that issue or not, So I am going to stay with the SCT
and the tunes from Matt.

Yeah I’ve only heard good things about the sct but also haven’t heard anything bad about the bullydog. I wanted to purchase the sct livewire from innovative diesel but with the custom tunes and the egt probe, it’s $900 after shipping and If I can get the same product for $400 cheaper with tunes that aren’t as good, it seems like a fair deal. I’m not going to be doing much towing with the truck.

You could always skip the tunes at first.

The BD would chew up a trans because the person
that was writing there tunes was not so good at it.
Give Matt a call and see what he has.

You can get an SCT x4 on ebay for about $250 used. A tune for about 60, I think. Then an EGT probe & gauge setup for under 100. So you can do all this for about 400 if you have somewhere to put the gauge.

Other live data gauges can be monitored with a $25 ELM327 adapter and $5 Torque Pro app.

Just wanted to give you some options.

^^^ exactly what I was going to say. Unless you want to run stupid-power tunes and need the EGT to defuel, there are significantly cheaper options.

My tuner doesn't have any gauges because I don't want it stay in my truck longer than it takes to flash the PCM. If that thing grew legs I'd be out several hundred dollars to get a new one, get a new stock tune, then get my tunes re-upped and reinstalled. It's worth smashing a window to grab an $800 tuner on a suction cup mount, but who is going to hack my dash apart to steal an Isspro 2" gauge face?

But has SCT taught the old dog new tricks?

Also SCT wants $150 to un-marry a tuner once it is VIN locked
aka : married. The funny thing is the people at pawn shops are
taking them in and not checking to see if they are married or not.

I’ve been looking for a used sct x4 and haven’t had really any luck. I just thought if I can get everything I need in one, why not. Is Edge any good?

SCT hands down. Although SCT owns Bullydog, they are not the same product. The Bullydog does not allow the trans to be tuned with custom tunes. I actually have both and I use the Bullydog to monitor egt, fuel pressure and coolant pressure but use the SCTx4 to load the tunes. Went through quite the ordeal to figure this out and Innovate stopped selling tunes for the Bullydog after it.

Great info and good to know. I still only use and recommend SCT for the Ford 6.0 platform. It's just too good and has too much proven success to use anything else.

I thought that the front deflector (can't think of the correct name) helped smooth out the air flow and gave a bit better MPGs.
