Not sure if they all came wired for it, haven't yet investigated that (only owned dents for 30 years, get around to it one of these days )
On the one that has/had them, one socket was basically gone (similar plastic to the guage cluster?) and the other one was pretty anemic - it has a couple clear-lensed oval lights on a tin bracket under the dash, big improvement. Again, been going to add those to the other one without lights, just never got around to it. If it has the wiring it'd literally be a 10 minute job.....
Plugs right into your existing interior light circuit where the rear cab dome light ties in.
Aside from replacing the socket assembly, are there any tricks/tips for the power contact that has lost it's tension? My driver's side socket has dropped 1 bulb out, and the new bulb, even after gently prying the contact forward, has come loose.
They lit up cab devently until drivers side bulb lost contact
Wow I think I could wire in my own lights for less than $70 lol but I guess if you want factory correctness that link is what you want. I myself would probably just add my own lights cz no one is Gunna judge on if they are oem or not... and then with the money I saved take the wife out to dinner to keep her happy

Heck LMC Sells a courtesy light kit w/ new door jamb switches, and the wiring connections for $25.
My '68 Cougar had two older looking metal 'fixtures' under the dash on each side, but I forget what bulbs it used. It also had lights at the bottoms of the doors, and one on the back of the console. It didn't have an overhead lamp, or the little round ones in the C-pillar/sail panels. :seller's remorse: My '88 Mustang GT has little plastic sockets with no reflectors, which accept 194s.
You really just need something to hold the bulb, and then to wire that in.
I agree that the best place to tap into the dome lamp circuit is up behind the dash where the dome light wire snakes up the A-pillar.
