How do you track the service and maintenance records for your trucks?
For years I've created an Excel Spreadsheet to record the service history for my vehicles and equipment. I want something easier and possibly available online.
I found we can enter service history at owner.ford.com. Are the service records entered on this site available to the dealerships? Would this be credible info for future sale of the vehicle?
Is there an app or a website that is decent for entering service records?
I use an app that does notes/list shared across my devices through cloud support. It is called paperless, though now the default apple notes would do just the same, sure android has it as well.
I keep a binder at home with all receipts for services, repairs, etc. I use a cover sheet (Excel) that I record mileage and quick notes of what was done. IE: Oil and filters changed, type of oil, fuel filters changed etc.
In the vehicle I have a small memo book that I record the same general info with date/miles/what was done (oil/filter change, fuel filters, air filter etc) and where it was done. I also record all fuel added, any fuel additive, where I bought the fuel, how much per gallon and total cost for that purchase. It helps to track mileage, as well as a cya in case I get bad fuel somewhere, which has not happened yet.
I'm a bit OCD about it, but can say that when I handed off the binder when I sold my 07 F350, the new owner was grateful as it had a list of all the mods, receipts for same with any warranty info, when it was done as well as all service records from the day I bought it. It paid off when he had a transmission issue, although the company I bought the transmission from was less than helpful, however since it was the second one from them within 20K miles, I believe they helped the guy. They wanted to salvage some reputation since they are a nationally known company.
I see some of you jot down the service with minimal info. I prefer to keep as much detailed info as possible, makes my life easier if I forget things in the future like a part number or part manufacturer, or even the cause of a failed part that is replaced.
After a quick look at the Drivvo app it looks more along the lines of what I'm looking for. I currently track fuel on a seperate spreadsheet (which someone uploaded here and I snatched it)
It appears I'm a bit **** about record keeping. Keep the ideas rolling!
