2001 7.3 dipstick problem

2001 7.3 dipstick problem
i pulled my dipstick out the other day just to check my oil, when i was putting it back in it stop about 80% of the way in and won't go in any further i have no idea what it could be and I'm not sure what to do. it just won't go all the way in. Can i drive with out the dipstick?

You csn, but I’d cover the hole at least to prevent stuff getting in.
Sometimes i’v Had trouble putting it back in and have had to twist it a bit.
I think the dipstick has a small rubber oring on it that may have degraded and fsllen off. Doubtful, but you never know. Check your dipstick with a new one.
