Spring width

I'm sure you all here can help with this. I have a 9" out of a '59 F100 for my '46. I have the '59 spring plates for attaching the U-bolts, thanks to willowbilly for those. Here's my concern, the '46 spring is 2" wide, the '59 had 2¼" wide springs. Will this be an issue, having the original springs ¼" narrower? Not sure if the springs in the U-bolts help control lateral rear movement.

Couldn't one just stuff a ¼" plate between and call it a day? It's not like you are going to use it for commercial purposes.

You should be fine. The spring center bolt is what locates everything.

Yup, it'll work fine.......once everything is clamped together it can't go anywhere.
I have had the same setup on my F-1 for years.

Great, thanks guys, that's what I was hoping to hear. Not like I'm going to be autocrossing the truck. And it might still be required to do some hauling now and then.
