This has been an issue since purchasing old green back in 2005.
The rear dome light never comes on when the door is opened. Every now and then, if you bump it just right, it will come on. But it is most off. The two side light work just fine when you flip the switch.
I have recently upgraded the interior light to LED so it would be nice to have this working properly. I have taken it off and it looked it all over. everything look fine.
it is held in by 3 screw. Interestingly, if i remove the bottom screw, flipping either switch for the side lights turns the dome light on. flipped them both to on and blew the fuse. put the screw back in, and it went back to normal.
decided to try using a jumper wire to see if i could learn anything, but all i managed to do was blow fuses. I am out of #10 fuses now, so decided I should check in here and maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
Like I say, every now and then, it will come one. Anyone have an ideas or should I just forget about it?
