Nice idea for mounting the Bass control **** on the side of the drivers seat. Easy to reach, yet out of the way.
I use an Audio Control LCQ-1 to create a separate subwoofer channel off of the stock radio. The wire for my Bass control **** currently comes out of my Center Console and the **** has been hanging out in out in one of the cup holders while I was contemplating where to drill a hole in the center console.
Yeah, I would highly recommend the side seat mount. Works out really well--you don't even have to look away from the road, its just right at the perfect place to adjust. Kind of works to well -----as you want to adjust every song. And plenty or room for the "****" assembly under the seat!
Just a thought for you. You can gain a bit of room by cutting away the back wall carpet. I dynamat'ed the rear wall, made a cut out for my box I built then reinstalled the carpet. Only takes a few minutes and gives you about another .5" or so.
Wow, your going to do some major "window shaking" with that double sub set up! I thought about cutting out the carpet, but thought it would only give me about 1/4" ---and I needed 5/8" -----so I just recessed the sub. That looks nice --what you did, though.

My 2017 XLT had absolutely no bass in the sound system. Could not live with that. I came up with a way to get one behind the rear seat, but was not easy. And I did not know if it would even sound good. Got it hooked up and it sounds very good. 1000% improvement over stock. I can't stress enough though----- it is difficult. I have a machine shop with all the equipment, I found out what NOT to do along the way. Ended up with a lot of time in it, but it was worth it for sure.
start with rear seat release custom made amp panel and sub control sub and sub box (extremely tight fit!!)
disker,
Could you please list part numbers or links of all your components?
Last time I messed with audio I just did a rca input adaptor to stock sub.
Since i don't have the stock Sony kit or Sync 3, will your set up work for me?
If anyone else has information on this please feel free.
Hey Texman89,
I purchased all the components at Crutchfield.com. A list of components is below. I would advise to check into one of the sub boxes some of the other guys have been going with (other posts)--- that were not available when I did mine. It appears they have sub boxes that will now fit behind the seat and you are also able to mount the components to. Its best if you find a competent system installer to actually hook up the system. It requires the head unit (radio) to be pulled and wired into. My truck had no sub woofer (Sony unit), but does have the Sync3. I did not change the other speakers out and I am happy with how it sounds. Well worth the time and money, makes a huge difference in the sound.
JL Audio JX500/10 amp
Pioneer TS 2502S4 10 " sub
LC2I sound processor
JL Audio sub volume control
A few people with Supercrewsound enclosures stated that it needs modifications as well, so I'll keep looking (probably will end up building one).
I'm wondering if the installer hooked up from the dash due to the tweeters. I read somewhere that they might cause an issue.
I also read that there are wires under the trim where the seatbelt is mounted, and under the trim that you step on when getting in.
Does it make a difference where you tap off of? I'm assuming that the LC2I is hooked up like a LOC, but has the added feature of sound optimizing qualities.
Hey Texman89
I am not really up on the newer sound system installs and requirements. That's why I had an installer hook all my stuff up. But he did tell me that if I did not use the LC2i sound processor that he could have hooked up the sub with the wires under the drivers side kick plate --like you said. Since I did go with the LC2i (which he recommended for better sound) then he had to hook it up to the back end of the head unit. But don't think it had anything to do with the tweeters (but not sure about that). And I really recommend getting the Sub gain (volume) adjust--- as bass requirements changes on most every song played. And it really works out well putting the **** on the side of the drives side seat. The installer I had hook it up, had 30 years experience and got very good reviews. I would be very leery of taking it to some installers that hire kids (although they can also be good--maybe). He only charged me $90.00 to hook it all up ---- I would have messed around with it all day, and probably messed something up. So I was glad to pay that!
