I had a Suprise today

This am, needed to run over to Home Depot (I'm sure everybody knows of them) and pick up some replacement Drill bits (Long story - I ruined 8 of them on Thursday), so as I was walking away, I hit the lock button twice and everything was good to go. As I came out I could see my truck and hit the unlock button and nothing happened. As I got closer, kept hitting the unlock button and still nothing happened. As I placed the remote in the front windshield and hit the unlock button, it unlocked the drivers door. I said wow, the remote is only 6 months old and the battery is dead. Truck started with no problems, but had several other errands to run. I decided I needed to use the KEY in the door exit and entry. I hope that feature never goes away !

Why do you need push button start? What's so difficult about turning the key?

Key?? what key?? can't believe there are still people using keys... One problem with buying a keyless vehicle is it's going to be impossible to go back..

I had keyless and didn't find it useful because I carry a lot of keys and I still always took the keys out of my pocket before getting in the car. That's why I didn't want that option.

So the battery died but the truck still started? That's good to know as I have often wondered what I would do if I was out and the thing died. I have my code to get in if I need to so that's not a problem. I would assume that it conserves enough juice to keep starting the vehicle a few times until you get the battery changed in the fob? It would suck to be stranded with a perfectly good fob back at the house.

On keyless trucks there is a spot to put the FBO if it's dead that will allow the truck to start and be driven..

Hint it's the same spot used to train new FOBs to your truck..

Well I haven't had to do anything like that yet so I guess I'll find it when I need to. Bought mine used so... I'll consult the book if I ever get any time to do so. I'm sure it's all there. Thanks, good to know I won't be stranded.

Bad or weak battery in the FOB.

Just replace it and see if that`ll solve the issue with the range on the remote.

I agree with the other posters about push button start as I have it on my 2016 Lariat. Without a doubt, one of my favorite features and I can`t see ever having another car without it.

Just what I was saying. Battery in the keyfob only lasted 5 months. New battery did fix it.

Five months? Dang! I've had my truck two years and two days, still in the original battery.

Wife's Edge is keyless and I'm not a fan. Don't like having that thing in my pocket.

I'm just over 7 months and mine still works from very far away. Maybe yours was a weak/old battery to begin with?
