I was able to do a little work on the EX this weekend. I installed the F650 lower dash with space for 9 rocker switches. This is in preparation for front and rear ARB lockers being installed soon. Also on the lower dash, I have a voltage meter for both batteries. This is a switch that can be toggled depending on which battery I want to monitor. I chose this switch because it can be placed in an off position. I know it is minimal drain on the battery, but zero is best. I also replaced the cig lighter socket with a Anderson Powerpole outlet. The red switch already in place is the remote control switch for the BlueSea ACR. This lets me connect or disconnect the two batteries from inside the vehicle. The lower dash is not the same color as the ashtray and hook, but I am more than happy with the two tone look. If I can come across replacements for them in the right color, I would get them. For now I am good.
Some things I have done since my last post.
1. ARB front and rear air lockers.
2. Swapped in new gear to 4.56.
3. Swapped in Warn premium hubs.
4. Swapped front and rear diff covers for Ruff Stuff Specialties 3/8 steel covers.
5. Swapped in new dual stabilizer kit from PMF Suspension with Fox 2.0 stabilizers.
6. Lots of wiring maintenance and prepping for future off-road lighting and ham radio/comms radio. I have built a custom relay panel thats waiting to be installed.
Numbers 1-4 we're done by a local shop here in RVA. Just made sense to get all that done at the same time .
To do list
1. Install relay panel and wire it into the second battery.
2. Decide on how to mount a winch up front. I am really liking the all the chrome up front and don't want to loose that look. Was quoted $6k for a stainless steel mirror polished front bumper and guards. Ouch. Leaning towards bumper that's painted to match the grey panels.
3. Install previously mentioned off-road lighting. I have purchased a good led mounting bracket and a cheap led bar to see if i like it. Figure a better led bar would be easy to swap in later.
4. Take this beast off road. I'm looking for easy trails in VA or neighboring states to go on.
I do plan on getting some more pics up here by the weekend. I am impressed with the new diff covers and dual stabilizer kit. They are both well made. If anybody is interested in seeing pics of something specific, let me know .
It's a universal Android 7.1 head unit by Pumpkin. This is the second one I had to get as the first one was causing a battery drain. I like putting in these full Android units as you can run Android apps directly on them. Waze and Pocket Cast are my favorite.
