I have a 3 speed rat tremec trans and was wondering if there is anyway to convert it to 4wd as I haven’t found any 4wd versions. I figure it would be a lot of custom fab work but hoping there is someone that knows how I could accomplish this.
No idea what a "rat" Tremec is, but if it is the 3 speed, it's similar to the T170 series 4 speeds, (SROD) and has a detachable bellhousing. No good news on converting your transmission, but an NP435 from a 4X4 will bolt up to your bellhousing.
Rat was just the variant of the transmission. I’ll probably just find a divorced transfer case to install as this was the truck I learned to drive on and want to keep the 3 speed so I can convert it back to a column shift at some point.

That 3 speed wasn't very strong to begin with in a 2WD half-ton, much less a 4WD. If you want to keep this truck in good shape, then your best bet is prob to find another 4WD truck, or a 4WD frame with a shot body and swap your truck's body onto it
I’m sure the transmission isn’t as strong as others but I’ve never had a problem out of it and it still runs like a top. But it was a work truck before and after my dad bought it so it’s extremely rusted. I finally have my own place with a garage so I can actually have time to strip it and clean it up. I’m hoping the frame isn’t worse than what I think or I’ll have to get a new frame and probably find a 4wd set up and just keep the 3 speed trans as a spare.
