Engine serial number location?

Engine serial number location?
My 1955 F-100 has what I was told at time of purchase, is the inline 223 CID 6 cylinder engine. I'm trying to find where the engine identification number is stamped on the block to verify the engine's proper size.
Any help will be appreciated as it is obvious that the current engine is not the original. Thank you.

Hey coho! Welcome to FTE the best Ford Truck Forum on the world wide Web! I don't know much about the 6 cylinders but lots of guys here do. But before we share info with you you gotta share pics of your truck, inside, outside and engine! LOL!
