Ok so heres the deal, 2008 250 super duty: put the key in the ignition and the truck doesnt recognize the key is there. No chiming due to the door being opened no lights on the dash except and airbag light, I turn the key to accessory and still nothing, no lights on the dash. The radio works but still no door chime and obviously it wont start, it wont even turn over or click or anything. Heres where is gets strange, I can put slight downward pressure on the key and everything works like normal; door chime, lights, glowplugs and everything and it will start right up.
Experiment with the tilt steering in different positions. I have had a power to ignition switch connection break loose in the steering column and only contact when everything is in the right position.

If you have your spare key that isn't used much, try that, and if it works fine it's most likely a worn key as said before, but if not then my guess would be that they ignition switch itself is worn on the inside and you'd need to replace that.
