lights/key warning buzzer
lights/key warning buzzer
recently i noticed that i don't get any beep from my truck if i open the door with the lights on or the key in the ignition. i checked all the fuses looking for a quick solution. they were all ok. where do i go next?
i am tempted to break mine on purpose, why would anyone want to fix that annoying thing.
check the switch on the door jamb, check the buzzer itself, check the ignition, mine is possessed b/c ford r known for the loose ignitions and such. probaly at the ignition, i can pull the key out of mine and start it or while it is running, and if i dont wiggle the ignition the right way either on the buzzer wont go off and off the buzzer wont go on, but i put up with it b/c once it runs i wont care and will probaly cut the buzzer anyway.

You dont say what you have but there have been a bunch of posts on here about chime/buzzer problems. Try the search function. If its a 92-96 look at the door switch the rubber boot goes bad and they stick or short out. Is you dome working?

if u want to removed the buzzer its right under the drivers side dash. i pulled mine out and smashed it against a wall.
but i do have to say, my driver side switch for the dome light doesnt go one when the door is opened. no biggie for me but any idea how to fix it?

Optikal
Switch is in the lower rear of the drivers door jamb. Its held in by a sheet metal screw. It may or may not be covered by a rubber boot. I think it was about $10 at ford.
My chime was above the gas pedal on the tranny hump.

thanx for the heads up gasman, my rubber boot is pretty shot anyway. the pasengers side works perfectly but my drivers side seems to stick. when i open the door it doesnt come on, usually it comes on when the doors over 1/2 open and sometimes it doesnt even come on. weird, huh?
