Hello, I have a afe intake on my 94 F250, is there an alternative like NAPA where I can get a filter that would fit on the tube and in the housing? Or do I have to spend 80 bucks on another afe filter? Thanks a lot.
Find a small 1 gallon bucket, put a generous amount of simple green and one scoop of oxy clean detergent(for clothes) add water. Let that bad boy sit, genoursly wash out 2 or 3 times.

Let it dry, spray w are oil.
Filters look brand new w this method
That's interesting! I've just been using the cleaning stuff that comes in the kit from AFE, then the oil. It doesn't come out looking brand new though. Is your method harmful to the filter?
I ask about replacing the filter because after I cleaned mine with soap was water from the inside out, I noticed a development of dirt on the inside of the intake tube. I did not see this before when I pulled the filter off to clean it. I driven it around 300 mi up toe pulling the filter again. My first thought is the filter is as, has a lot of creases in it. I know the sleeve is right around the tube so no leaks. Thoughts? I was just going to play it safe and get a new filter

that's intriguing, did u purchase the truck w the filter already installed?
possibly previous owner didn't spray it right one time.
The truck had the afe components when I got it. I believe the filter element was an oil less one because it was not blue based on what I’ve seen online. I say this because the owner used filter oil on it so it’s now a brownish color. I didn’t re oil it when I cleaned it so I don’t know if that affected it. Also I don’t know the consequences on oiling a non oil filter. I’ll bebuying a new filter.

Well u have dirt in the intake tube bedcause u didn't re oil it most likely. U should post a pic of ur setup.
hold on though, their is also a gold/yellow oil and mine turns brown when dirty it once even was reddish brown.
I bet it was the yellow one. I cleaned mine 2 months ago and it looks reddish brown right now. But I've put at least 2k on my truck on dirt roads alone.
That makes more sense thanks. I’m still going to pick up a new filter because mine is crushed a bit and has a lot of caked dirt in the inner folds. I’ll be sure to oil the new one
