lost a thunderbird today
Just returned from our Bases airshow. The ThunderBirds were to perform but one crashed right after take off. Thankfully the pilot got out ok. Just missed the control tower!

I thought they flew all 5 into the ground in a training mishap in Navada. I am not sure the date, but i think it was 1980 something. I can check, i have the paper in a scrap book i think. I let yall know when i find it.

BTW I have searched a few times and hav yet to find anything about a plane crash today or recently (this month) last F-16 crash was in Turkey last month Still looking.

I haven't found any news or links either that a T-bird crashed on takeoff. They were supposed to be in Idaho on the 14 though.
Must of crashed in an area with no homes. In that case it will no doubt be all over the Monday evening news. In any case no one got hurt and that is a very good thing.
They were at Home AFB, Idaho.
Followed the CNN link. That one has it and the ball of flame as the aircraft impacted the ground.

It was here at Mountain Home AFB. I know it's kinda wrong to say, but since the pilot made it out ok..it was a spectacular sit to watch. Pilot is doing ok but I am guessing he needs a newq flight suit. Also the people in the control tower. as I look over there today it only missed by maybe 50 yards!
