Ok, bought the connectors, I will install them after work and keep driving and see how it does. Tomorrow the shop I went to earlier this week will be driving the truck with ignition scopes hooked up to see if there's a problem there ... Guy mentioned maybe think about the PIP and/or ignition module ... with the work needed to get to the PIP replaced is it worth doing all that or should I grab a new distributor if there end up being problems there?
Ok guys, I have an update: I haven't rewired the relay connectors just yet but I found something last week. Months ago I rewired the connector for my ignition coil and it's never fit perfectly (who know why). A coworker wanted to see inside the distributor to see if the stator and whatnot were original and he also wiggled some wires around. After I put it back together, truck wouldn't start. Got a spark tester and found I wasn't getting spark, so i wiggled that connector and it took a few tries but I got spark. So, I decided to get a new connector, Motorcraft cap, rotor and coil (cap and rotor were iffy). Installed the parts and it's been running great all week, no hiccups to speak of. i am still going to do those relay connectors when I get some time.
