[95 7.3] Hey guys was having problems with no crank starts would have power light etc no crank though, thought my starter solenoid mounted on the passenger fender was shot b/c i would jump it from the 2 terminals just fine. replaced solenoid now same issue seems to be incurring(not as frequently though). where should i go from here am i not getting my small current through from the ignition or what?
it could be a bad fender relay, or an improperly adjusted neutral safety switch.
next time it does it, try pushing the shifter up to park, or pull it down to neutral with the key in start and see if it makes any difference.
starter relays are now chinese crap, and sometimes you need to put 5-6 on to find a decent one.
Actually, for the money, if you need a starter relay I'd adapt a Western Plow 56131K, the one often used as a GP relay. Only "mod" you'd need to do is make a short ground wire with a ring terminal on each end. Attach one end to the second small terminal on the relay, and the other to the mounting screw. That'll outlast a case of the cheap ones.
