I picked up my 2018 F450 Lariat this afternoon. Huzzah!
I ordered it when the Order Banks opened in September. It was built on 1/12 and was delivered to the dealer yesterday. A long wait that really stretched my patience.
Love the truck but so different from the 2011 450. Big!
What was unexpected was how I felt when I turned over the keys to the 2011. It felt like I was giving up a friend for adoption! So many miles and memories.
I know the feeling, when I bought my '17, I had to sell my '97 F-350 CC LB 4x4 w/a 7.3 L, I owned it for 18 years and let it go, I still miss it too. LOL
I was towing back from a trip out west when my '07 F350 6.0 began setting ECU codes in Nebraska. I stopped at a Ford dealer, where I knew the owner, and had the service department take a look.
Long story short, the next afternoon I rolled out in a new '17. I had been shopping new trucks for the last couple of months anyway so it made the decision that much easier. I remember unloading the '07 and pulling away leaving it sitting on the back lot of the dealership. Seemed a very sad experience. The old truck had served me well and it seemed like I was abandoning it.
A few days of driving this all new truck should take away those feelings.
I had two of the previous edition. Good trucks, but the new model is head & shoulders above them.
I've had literally dozens of vehicles in my day. The only one that I truly miss is the 1974 Pontiac LeMans GT I had in high school. I might miss the 2007 Mustang GT that I bought new in August 2006 if it ever went. I just don't get attached to my trucks.
How many miles on the outgoing 2011 if you don't mind me asking, and what did they offer you on trade? I figure I've got 4 years on my 2017 before I trade it in, and that will put me somewhere around 200K miles. Just wondering how bad I will get beaten up for my 4 years of enjoyment
