Locking fuel door

I am curious if anyone has used the following locking fuel door? I have been searching for options to lock the door, or lock the caps (diesel and DEF).

I'm curious why a person would want one. Certainly not to prevent DEF theft.
I don't think it is possible to siphon fuel out of a modern tank, either. At least, I've not been successful with it since 1996 when my Jeep came with an anti-siphon baffle built in.
Not to mention that fuel thieves now days simply punch a hole in the plastic fuel tank and let it drain into their container.
Is it to keep vandals from putting foreign stuff into your fuel?
If it's just for looks, it seems like the effort of having to unlock the cover every time you need fuel is not worth it to me.

Just wondering what the thought is.

My initial thought was to help prevent diesel theft. We are planning a trip south in the coming months and will be spending a couple nights in a Walmart parking lot with our trailer. I was not aware of anything built into the tank to prevent siphoning.

I know this has been discussed previously but I was curious on the group consensus.

I like it. I see they make a gloss black which should blend pretty good with my shadow black. Another part I didn't know I "needed".

I think they look pretty neat, but between the lock on the bumper hitch, the lock on the tool box in the bed, the lock I use on the fifth wheel hitch or TT coupler, and the locks on those little tie down do dads in the bed, I've already got enough keys to sort through. I'm just lucky the ignition key is way bigger than the other keys!

I know some guys put locking fuel caps on to prevent inadvertently pumping DEF into their fuel, which isn't a bad idea at all.
Putting a locking door on may not prevent fuel theft, but it'll go a long ways toward preventing fuel/DEF cap theft. Those things ain't cheap either!

I'm going with locking caps. I already have one for the diesel.

I used the Ford OEM equipped door, looks much better IMO.

If you do a search (as another member said above), my modification thread should showup.

Knowing the search function here is less than desirable (for a lot of folks)....

I put a link in my signature line.

I have one. its fine.

as stated above its not gonna prevent fuel theft seeing as they will just puncture the tank but it does prevent vandals and bored hood kids.
