Is there anything special about them? I see it says "speed screen"
I took a rock this am and had a spall that has turned into 3 huge cracks-
Not sure if I need a factory or a safelight shield will work.
Pissed as it is a 6k mile 4 month old truck
Safelight Auto Scratch has Soundstream windshields. It won't turn into a killer robot, though.
OEM windshields must have some goofy EPA mandate or something during manufacturing. They are very fragile. Every GM and Ford in our fleet eats a windshield in year one, then go the rest of their lives on the 2nd shield.

Mine happened on day 2 of ownership... less than 400miles on the truck. It’s now a two headed crack spanning the entire windshield. I’ve read every windeshield post on here. Bottom line, I want factory glass and will likely pay more for it. My insurance is USAA, whose glass policy SUCKS. So I’ll pybout of pocket for it after the winter.

Factory glass is thin, I have read nothing but stories of brand new GM and Ford trucks with broken glass.
Yup, Glass is cheap. Less than 3,000 miles on mine and had to replace windshield. I have driven Fords for years and this chip spidered instantly. I mean like I have never seen before.
‘I see a class action lawsuit. Way to many of these happenings.

Don't bother. Aftermarket glass is better. My work truck outside has had it's replaced. Clarity, is the same as my personal '17's OEM shield.

Well that’s good to hear I suppose. I made an assumption that all the trademarked “features” listed out at the bottom of the OEM windshield (sound screen, etc) meant that it was likely higher quality. Interesting to hear (at least anecdotally) that that might not be the case.
Works differently here with our insurance companies for glass replacement. With most providers, we can get as low as a $150 deductible for windshield replacements (unlimited). Without checking my policy, I believe mine is $250.

That's absolutely not true. The SoundScreen glass used in most Ford / Lincoln products now consists of two pieces of glass with a layer of ultra-clear sound-deadening vinyl sandwiched between. Most aftermarket glass does not offer this, and those that do are not exactly the same. The SoundScreen glass is on par with the double laminated glass you'd find in a German luxury sedan. It greatly reduces wind noise. Only an OEM windshield will give you the same quality low wind noise as how the truck was when new.
I've never had a Soundscreen glass break in any of my seven Ford pickups I've owned. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Safelight has a soundscreen now. That asked me if that's what I wanted when mine was replaced.
Is it the real SoundScreen or is it an aftermarket version? I mean, I'm sure its better than just a single-layer glass windshield. Most insurance companies will cover OEM if you force the issue. I always do...feels good making them pay more.
