I have had this same leak repaired at my local PA dealer. No BS, but the trans was removed as has been discussed in the responses. 2017 Powerstroke with under 10k miles at time of repair.
That one does not look bad at all compared to mine....got a new F350 with a 6.7 a couple days ago, 350 miles on it and it is leaking bad at the front of the upper pan. Dropped it off at my dealer yesterday, they could not believe it....Can't wait to hear what the diesel techs will think of it. My previous F350 only dropped some rust on the drive, not oil leaks...makes me reconsider the gas version....
anyone else seeing this on 2018's? Got a similar case. I noticed it during first oil change - cleaned it up. Now upon second oil change its back (doesn't look as bad this time as it only has about 300 miles since I cleaned it). ~5500 miles
I dropped something by the front of the truck yesterday and happened to glance up at the upper pan on mine. Its pretty caked on there and looks like it has been leaking for a bit. Will drop off at some point before the warranty goes. If a good service department takes a week turnaround for this; I better bake in at least 2 weeks for mine. At 30 bucks a day in a rental, its always a unplanned expense to get warranty work done.
IWill drop off at some point before the warranty goes. .
I was thinking the same thing - wait until later or until it starts to be an actual drip vs a seep. That said I will check the torque specs and tighten them also. But I found this tech video and it seems its an assembly error and them missing silicon in the corners to seal the pan properly, so likely not a torque issue
I am posting this message so as a 6.7 owner, maybe Ford will come clean on this problem. I found a heavy leak on my 2015 f350 last Wednesday. Unfortunately I am 1ooo miles out of my extended warranty. My truck has 120000 miles. It is going to cost me 4k to get the gaskets replaced. Ford needs to own up to this problem. In the shop until it gets fixed so while I am still making a vehicle payment, it sits in the shop. Thanks Ford. BTW, Ford extended warranty mileage starts at the time you purchase the warranty, not at the end of the factory warranty. So for a period of time you have two active warranties running simultaneously.
I was under mine on Saturday - also showing signs of leak....2017 6.7 w/ 18k miles
I looked under my neighbors 2017 F250 this weekend - he has it also and he couldn't believe it.
I bet a lot of folks have it and don't realize it because its not a full blown leak - just seeping. Doesn't take much to peek under there though, everyone should - especially before warranties are up and the amount of work that goes into this job/repair.
Noticed it it on my 2019 about 2 momths ago at around 1200 miles. I wasn’t too ticked off about it, until I started reading how common it was. Shame on ford for not fixing this issue years ago. From what I’ve read, it started when ford moved away from using a traditional gasket and began using an inadequate amount of “liquid gasket” on these pans... at least that’s what I’ve gathered from my reading.
I have no desire to have dealership remove/reinstall transmission, transfer case, etc... to fix a simple oil leak, so I’ll wait until I’m closer to the end of warranty/unloading this thing.

Had my 2017 leak fixed 2 weeks ago. It was a crank seal it seems but looked very similar. I noticed it start around 35k miles, but never dripped a drop even when repaired at 71k. Fingers crossed the fix works or this truck will promptly be traded in on something else.
Ford diesel tech here, 6.7 oil leaks are very common on all year models. Upper oil pan is normally the root cause but we have seen a few front cover gaskets fail that can be mis diagnosed as a upper oil pan leak. The fact that OP had to go to three different dealers blows my mind because the job is not very difficult. If your truck is leaking, take it to the dealer. Have them clean all the oil off the pan and have them add oil dye. The dye shows the exact source of the leak weather it be the front cover or the oil pan.
