Also after the update, don`t frustrate yourself again by putting that USB drive back in your computer to report back to Ford like the instructions say. Just make sure you have WiFi turned on in the SYNC system and it`ll send that updated info to Ford within an hour after a successful update or it might even take a few days.
Just be patient.
mine took about 3 weeks before it showed on ford owners, that I had updated it.
I wonder why it takes so long for some owners and not others.
Oh well, as long as it`s reported right.
While we are talking the sync screen, can someone tell me can you ( should you), put a protective film over the screen, or will that affect it’s performance negatively.

You can and no, it will not harm or affect the operation of the SYN screen in any way.
As far as if one should use a screen protector, they do make the screen look clearer and more crisp and at the same time, the glare is increased.
There are many on the market but do your research on which ones fit best because many of them don`t.
my 2017 SD has Ver 2.0 of sync tried to update to 2.3 but no matter how long I leave the usb stick in and drive the truck for a hour it just keeps saying installing update. Sure is frustrating.

It`ll finish but it does require much patience.
Just leave it alone and let it work at it`s own pace.
I have to turn on and it just keep saying installing update weather the motor is running or not. Seems to be stuck there. Drove it for over an hr and a half and left it in the on position several times and went out and turn it on again several times still says installing update. Guess I am stuck with ver 2.0.
Ok.. so does it complete the update download when the truck shuts itself down? Or do you have to keep restarting the truck?
I never started my engine. I pressed the button without pressing the brake to get it in accessory mode. Even though accessory mode turned itself off it still completed the update.
