56 inside door handles loosening
Okay- I replaced the door regulator shafts on my '56's both doors and bought new window regulators too- all with set screws- as on all 56's. But it seems like every couple weeks, the handles loosen and fall on the floor. I put them back on and tighten as much as possible and in another couple weeks-same old story.
I owned a different '56 about 40 years ago and I remember that the shaft splines had been partially drilled to fit the inset of the set screw. Is this what I need to do to fix the falling handles?

All of the originals I`ve collected over the yrs had screws in them with a small point and seen to be hardend. I bought the repos and they all have set screws and they have a flat end, plus they are soft metrics which tends to strip if you put any torque on them. I learned to live with them and carry a small metric allen wrench in the glove box. Some time I may experiment with re drilling and tapping the handles for a better screw or sae set screw.
