1994 F350 C&C no power to brake controller harness

I thought the aftermarket brake controller was bad so I replaced it. Still no power to controller. I'm not electrically inclined but can someone point me in the direction of where and what to check? Thanks !

A Haynes manual is a VERY handy tool if you own one of these trucks

... better yet, a set of ford factory service manuals.
until then, it looks like the trailer brake controller connector gets its power through a 30 amp maxi-fuse (fuse number 21) in the engine compartment fuse box.
