Yea, on my '17 the extended boards were a 230.00 option. I hear they have gone up a little on the '18's.
Gone up a little?? I just checked and they're $740!! I ordered a Lariat Ultimate yesterday and left them off, just got to decide what I want instead...
Imo, thats still cheaper than aftermarket. AMP Research steps will set you back $1200+
Thats true. But I was not very clear on what I was thinking.
Firstly, I didn't necessarly want to order the Powered Running Boards. Its just that the fixed RB and the power RB were about the same price, so why not the powered. Except that they are not wheel to wheel, which I have to have.
So then I'm back to fixed running boards and they are now $740 for the extended, fixed RB. I'm almost certain a few days ago they were $695. And last year they were $240 or so. Why the drastic increase??
I guess I need to buy them now before they top $1000!
I have the powered running boards and tow a fifth wheel. I carry a small step ladder that I place on the side of the truck to access the hitch. Works for me, and a whole lot cheaper than adding extended running boards

And, the AMP Research power steps plug into the OBD2 port, which personally for me is unacceptable, as I might want to use the OBD2 port for other things, such as an Edge Insight CTS2 digital screen.
Look into the retractable bedside steps -- sure beats hauling a step stool around (the step in the pic isn't fully deployed). The step pictured looks like it is installed on a truck with power running boards.
I ordered my truck a couple of days ago, so I prolly have this week to change anything.
I had orginnally thought I wanted the extended fixed running boards. Now, since the prices are close I'm considering
the powered and a small step like pictured above.
For those that have the powered steps, are they something that you would get on your next truck, or how much do you really like them?
I love mine. Much better looking imo..... i hate the look of running boards....I may look into the little retractable step like in the picture above. Just havent gotten around to it. But for me that combo would be the best. nothing showing most of the time...it is to bad the power steps dont come wheel to wheel. not sure why.
