I know this may be a stretch, but I am hoping there is someone else out there that has converted their column shifter to the floor. If you have any knowledge doing this my question is did your aftermarket kit come with a shift gate?
I converted mine years ago. No shift gate. I assume this is a 3 speed on the tree. On the side of the trans you have 2 shift arms. These arms will have to be turned upside down or your shift pattern will be upside down. I take that back about the shift gate. Its just part of the shifter. I think they are a Hurst Indy shifter. I do not know what the cost these days, I think the last one I bought was about $50.00 but that was better than 25 years go.

I have an aftermarket kit and it is terrible. The shifter is all over the place and i have to hunt forever to grab a gear.
The cheapie 3 spd shifter is a real hunt/find kind of shifter. If you get the more expensive Hurst Competition Plus three speed shifter it will be MUCH better.
When I bought my '70 F100 back in the early 80's it had the cheapie conversion shifter in it. I hated it. I finally saved up to buy the better Hurst version.

Freightrain I wonder if my current linkages will connect to it? Didn't the Ford Mustangs come with a 3 speed on the floor?
Your linkage might line up okay? The rod ends are usually all the same size. I've mix/matched shifter parts for many years. The only issue is the mounting plate for the better shifter, if it moves it side to side compared to the universal version, the rods might need a kink in them to clear? The universal rods are just straight if I recall?
Anything from OEM would have the Hurst Comp Plus style shifter in it. Much more precise then those crappy universal shifters. The factory rods looked like a bowl of spaghetti as they formed around everything.
