So guys, I recently thought I had nailed my electrical issue down after I took my truck to an electrical specialist, but my issue has returned and I need some advice. I will try to keep this short and basic, but if you guess have any questions on specifics, please ask.
My issues started when my truck had a no start issue. My symptoms were the SES light on and the WTS light would never go off. At first, my code reader(craftsman) wouldnt see the PCM, but that magically changed after removing the IDM for inspection. Troubleshot fuses, swapped my CPS, unplugged my ICP sensor, checked grounds, checked my IDM, and removed my DP tuner chip. I had it narowed down to either my gas pedal or the PCM being bad(or so I thought) and didnt want to take the chance of buying one of those parts and it not fixing the problem, so I took it to a local shop here in Italy that had a good rep for electrical repair. they said they troublshot, thought it was my gas pedal assembly, open the sealed compartment that houses the TPS sensor and found that small circuit board had some cracks in it. so they resoldered it and wallah, problem was fixed. I drove it for about a month, go to start it this morning and bam, same symptoms. SEL and WTS lights stay on, and my code reader doesnt see the PCM. I'm guessing I may need to replace the pedal assembly, but before I purchase and ship the part, just wondering if any of you have any advice on what I can do to really nail down this issue. Also, on a side note, I have the adjustable pedal assembly. prices I found online were around $500-$600. Does anyone know if I can replace it with the fixed version? is it a direct remove and replace?
Can't help on pretty much anything, but think, the pedal assy can NOT be swapped with earlier model... Leave the chip out until you've mailed the problem. A loose chip..etc, can cause all sorts of issues

Thanks for the tip on keeping the chip uninstalled. What I was wondering is if I can swap the pedal with the fixed version of the same year model?

I would see about just replacing that circuit board with a good one. Obviously they were on to something since it solved your problem for over a month.
I want to say there is a thread on the GEM getting wet from leaky windshield weathering causing issues like this. Sorry I'm not able to nail it down for you, just throwing out a thought

Well, seeing as how the circuit board is part of the pedal assembly, I highly doubt I can purchase just the circuit board and my options are kinda limited being here in Italy.

What does GEM stand for? I did have my windshield replaced with the stock Ford(CarLite) about 3 years ago, but havent seen any evidence of it leaking. I will look again though. Thanks.
Water leaking into the GEM is a common issue for those with original windshields that have leaks. As you can imagine, water and circuit boards do not play well together.

The water leaks from ORIGINAL SEALED windshields. The fix, is to have it removed and resealed...I want v to say, up until 01, there were GEM. Now, there's VSM. The GEM's are located behind the light switch. How! water makes it onto the is beyond me, but it does. Up until I had mine resealed, I put a sandwich baggy over it.
I'm not sure about your baggie solution. It might result in overheating the module. Can you seal it with RTV? My next option would be to build a water proof cover (pastic bottle) and maybe duct tape.
If it is movement, no big deal to unplug the motors
No I wish it was just the motor for the pedal. Last time when this happened and my code reader saw the PCM, I was getting 3 codes:
P0713 - Trans Fluid Temp sensor A circuit high input
P0113 - Intake Air Temp Sensor 1 circuit high input
P0123 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A circuit high input

I don't.. But, best way at it, is remove the bezel, radio..etc, then the gauge cluster. Then, you can figure it some type of "shield" for it.
. At the v time, prior to getting my windshield resealed, after a rain, my truck would sound off the alarm, horn going nuts, door locks possessed... Man, it pissed off the neighbors. I tried siliconing everything, but water still find its way..... Only cure is to get it resealed
So did you have it replaced or resealed? Seems like somerhing like that would need replaced after getting wet, at least for my peace of mind lol. Would yours go back to normal after it had time to dry out?
