Right Tailgate Replacement
Hey guys,
I've recently purchased my first truck (2004 F-250 SD XLT SuperCab Long Bed $WD) and am in need of a new tailgate for it.
I bought one off Kijiji (ostensibly from a 2002 Ford f-250 SD Reg Cab) but it was too narrow to fit the bed on my truck (approx 2" off).
Now I'm pretty nervous about buying anything that I can't test the fit on first but the local wreckers don't seem to have anything for me and new OEM is out of my budget.
What would you guys suggest? I've been eyeing this one: 1999-2007 Ford Pickup F450 Superduty Tailgate Assembly - Best Value ® but am concerned about it not fitting and me having to deal with shipping from/to british comlombia(I'm in ontario, Canada).
I am thinking the issue might be that the first tailgate I bought was flairside style and my truck is styleside. However the guy I bought it from doesn't seem to want to offer any more information now that he has my money... Not sure how to figure out 100% what the issue is.
I could list dimensions and add pics if that would help.

Any super duty tailgate from 1999-2007 is a direct fit. 2008-2016 will fit but you have to change one of the hinges. 1997-2003 f150 non step side bed is also a direct fit. If the 2002 tail gate you bought didnt fit on your 2004 then it was not from a super duty and the guy lied to you.

The tailgate I got says f250 on it. Does that mean it must be from before 1999 or were there non super duty models of the f250 sold during the early 2000s as well?
