Wow, someone could be a posting guru and only have 2 or 3 recognized posts. Wonder if anyone went in the red when Ken made the change. They should probably buy an old Ford and start working on it.

Posts don't count here?

I came up with an old joke about the posting policy...

No, the posts don't count here, just like votes in Florida...

Couple years late but...

White Sands is a military test range. I would guess a sailor from an aegis equipped ship is there testing fire control radars or the standard missles themselves. (SM-3??) perhaps?

I say if you are worried about posting in the hog trough because it don't count, then what you wanted to say don't count for much no how, otherwise you'd go ahead and say it whether it counted or not.

You know Mike, I've asked myself that same question many times since I got here!

I am indeed at White Sands Missile Range, to test various missile systems. We also launch low-orbit rockets for NASA sometimes.

A few years ago I wanted to get a job at China Lake. It is probably the best thing that never happened.

I have always heard that the Navy was for the ones not sharp enough for the Marines..... Maybe they dropped him off in Las Cruces and told him to find the Beach, and the best he could do was find some White Sand....LOL....J/K

Actually most military bases have a componant of different braches of the military.

I speak my mind all the time. If you think Im only posting for the count, you are sadly mistaken. And if you prefer to not read my posts thats your problem completely. I came here to join the thousands of other Ford Lovers and shoot the bull.

It's really amusing at how many folks here seem to believe they are so intelligent and then all they do is look for ways to be snide or toss insults out like free candy.

There are some of us who don't spend the whole day sitting in front of our computers making posts all day. Now, if you'll read my second post in this thread, you'll see there that I don't care about post count, either. As far as Im concerned there is no need of a posting count, period. Just because you are a "posting guru", whatever that is, means nothing to me except that you spend a lot more time here than I do or ever will, except during the winter months when I'm not working on one of my hobbies.

Of course, I could go so far as to say that someone who does nothing but sit and spout their opinions on everything and toss out insults all day has posts that "don't count for much no how."
So put that in your Funk & Wagnilds. read the top ppostng rules...I think it says something about trying to get along and not starting flame wars.

So, if you don't want to post if it doesn't increase your number, and you don't want to talk tech, then post in the GC forum. It still counts toward that magical number everyone is worried about. Just don't post political or religious topics, or anything likely to drag out into 80 replys.
I'm going to assume this one was directed at me.

You just posted in the pig pen. Did your count go down? I don't think so, but it didn't go up either.

If you go post in the GC or another forum and post in a thread you have already posted in your count won't go up or down, but if you start a new thread or post in a thread you've never posted in I bet your count will go up.

Image that you've done this:

GC forum:
thread A - 3 posts
thread B - 1 post
thread C - 5 posts

pig pen
thread D - 2 posts
thread E - 3 posts
total posts 3+1+5+2+3=14 posts in 5 threads. count=14

New way of counting: 3 "good" threads posted to + 0 "oinker" threads = total count of 3

your count just went from 14 to 3.

I wish Ken would jump in here and confirm this cause I'm going to feel pretty foolish if I'm wrong.
Okay, now I officially feel foolish. I could swear the above was happening, but I followed my own suggestion and posted twice to a GC forum and my count went up by two. Sorry for the mis-information.

What's the big deal about your post count? I could care less about mine. Do you get money for 1000 posts? No. What do you get out of a high post count?
I think the date you became a registered user is more important.

Whoa there big feller. Since you quoted me, I guess that rant was directed at me. I think you should read it again. I basically said what you said: People should post where ever they want to and not worry about if it counts or not. As far as I know I haven't insulted you or anyone else. (well maybe Waxy a while back)
